The old city of Sandomozh is amazing at the murder: not far from the local monastery, a completely bloodless corpse of a woman, stabbed for cattle knife, is found. The case is entrusted to the prosecutor Theodor Shatsky, who was forced to move to the province from Warsaw. Soon he understands that it will not be possible to solve the crime just like that. It is associated with the old legends that entangle this city, and with the recent tragedies of the 20th century. It arouses the past, revives ancient superstitions, hatred and rampant. Soon, the prosecutor will have to not only investigate, but also calm the panic, embittered citizens. And the killer does not stop, and his methods become more and more medieval.
