The book proposed to the reader, containing elementary introduction to the theory of probabilities, was written in 1946 by two outstanding mathematicians, classics of probability theory B.V. Gnedenko (1912-1995) and A. Ya. Khinchin (1894-1959). She withstood several publications in the USSR with a total circulation of more than half a million copies, was published in thirteen foreign countries, and was translated into fifteen languages. It received the first acquaintance with the science of random hundreds of thousands of future mathematicians, engineers, physicists, economists, biologists, doctors, soil scientists, psychologists, sociologists and simply interested in this direction of science.
The book makes minimal requirements - To understand all its parts, there are enough mathematical knowledge gained in high school. The presentation is based on examination of practical content, which are presented so that the reader is clear the scientific significance of the introduced concepts and displayed rules.
