Eleutherococcus prickly, C2 pot, H10-50 height, 1 pc, summer 2024
shrub with a height of 2-2.5 to 4-5 m with numerous (more than 25) stem. Young shoots, unlike the old ones, have long thin spikes, tilted down. Spikes bend at the ends, which is why they cling and difficult to remove from the skin. But it is these young shoots that this plant easily distinguishes from other shrubs. The spikes disappear over time, making the old branches absolutely smooth and not dangerous. A strongly branched cylindrical rhizome with a large number of subordinate roots is located in the upper layers of the soil (the length of the root system reaches 30 m).
The leaves are palpable, they are placed on petioles 15 cm long, have an unusual shape and color. They are remotely similar to the fingers. Elliptic shape with a wedge -shaped base and bicoline edges. From above the leaves are naked or with bristles, from below on veins with reddish pubescence. The average three sheets are larger than two extreme.
The flowers are small, located on thin long peduncles, collected in umbrella spherical inflorescences at the ends of the branches with a peculiar, persistent and strong aroma. The flowers are bipped, stamens (male) - pale purple, and pestle (female) - yellowish. Blooms in July-August.
