In the book, the author shows the participation of the collective of the Research Institute of Ambulance (Research Institute of SP) named after N.V. Sklifosovsky, in which he worked for many years, in the origin, formation and development of a new scientific and practical direction “Disaster Medicine” in Russian medicine. The author of the book is a professor, doctor of medical sciences, author and co -author of 182 scientific papers on the organization of health and medicine of disasters, director of the Ambulance Research Institute named after N.V. Sklifosovsky from 1986 to 1992.

The author offers readers a description of a number of disasters that occurred in our country for various reasons and at different times, in the elimination of the most difficult consequences of which domestic medical and rescue brigades took part. The heroic experience of the rescue doctors went down in history and was laid in the foundation of the scientific and practical direction “Disaster medicine.”
