Mike Englby is an extraordinary person. In fact, how would the native of the “lower classes entered Cambridge in the 1970s, and then made a career as a journalist? His confessional story about his own life, interspersed with heavy memories, is a first -hand certificate, proving that in front of us is a person tormented by complexes and at the same time endowed with a paradoxical analytical mind and phenomenal memory, a person who can deeply understand literature and feel music.

All the more strange, failures in Englby’s memory seem, barely talking about the student Jennifer Arkland, in which he was secretly in love and which mysteriously disappeared by a windy autumn night. Indirect evidence gathered by the police seem to indicate Englby, but the main character does not intend to give any tips to anyone - neither the investigation nor the reader.
