English Catholic Society of the XVI-XVII centuries: Viscount Montegu

The monograph is the first labor in world historiography that explores the mechanisms that made possible the coexistence of a religious minority - English Catholics - with the Protestant majority in England of the second half of the XVI - early XVII centuries. The Catholic community is considered in its relationships with English society at different levels: from the arrival and county to the court, parliament and secret council, as well as with Catholic communities outside the country. The work follows the principles of microsocial research and is focused on a detailed analysis of the political, social and religious aspects of life of one of the structural units of the English Catholic community, namely, the surroundings of the Viscount Montegu from the County of Sasssex.
