This publication is a full course of English for medical schools and colleges, consisting of two parts. The first part of the complex-an introductory course-is aimed at the formation of the initial skills of reading and translating a popular science text, as well as oral communication on topics related to the future profession of students. The second part - the main course - has the goal of the formation and development of skills in working with more complex sources of information - scientific and special medical texts. The system of tasks proposed by the authors forms an algorithm of analysis and reading of English -language texts among students, ensuring their understanding, extracting the necessary information and its fixation in various ways (performing a written translation, compiling an annotation, filling out tables containing certain facts, etc.). The development of oral communication skills is also focused on communication in the context of professional activity.

The author’s methodological concept of teaching foreign languages ​​“for special purposes” provides students with knowledge, skills and skills necessary for further independent study and use of a foreign language in a professional activity. The textbook is equipped with the Anglo-Russian dictionary (with transcription), keys to a number of tasks, which creates the conditions for active independent work of students.
