The anthology of the translations of the poet-symbolist, essayist Konstantin Dmitrievich Balmont (1867-1942) included plays from three different eras of the English drama, uniting the Elizabethan theater in the book ("The tragic story of Dr. Faust" Christopher Marlo), the theater "Percy Shelley) and the symbolist theater (" Salome "Oscar Wilde). Each drama is preceded by the preface of the author or translator. The texts are equipped with extensive comments. The introductory article sets out the creative biography of Balmont and analyzes plays included in the collection.

The book also includes Balmont's essay “On Love” and “Oscar Wilde's Poetry”. The collection is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of K. D. Balmont. The publication is addressed to connoisseurs of classical English literature and fans of drama.
