Entertaining ethnography of weekdays. Mints L.
In the book of Leo Mints (1937–2011), a wonderful ethnographer, one of the leading authors of the magazine “Around the World” at the time of its greatest popularity, entered both the famous readers and previously not published essays. Whatever Mintz talks about, he paid attention to such trifles of national life, which other ethnographers often pass by. And along the way, he answered the questions: how the concept of “pressing bread” is translated into the languages of the northern peoples, why the Vietnamese in childhood has one name, and when they grow up, another, as the word “tights” appeared in Russian, how raw fish indicates the origin The Japanese, why the Indians Navajo fake the sacred kuccinos of the Hopi Indians...
everything that he wrote is exciting, and this book is no exception. The culture of everyday life in the presentation of Mints appears to be a scattering of instructive stories - sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but never boring.
The book "Entertaining Ethnography of Wabled Day" is an excellent scientific and cognitive literature that is equally accessible to children and useful for adults.
