The proposed classical manual Ya.I. Perelman is called upon to arouse an interest in geometry or, in the words of the author, "to inspire a hunt and to educate its study." Science is excreted "from the walls of the school room to the free air, to the forest, field, to the river, to the road, in order to surrender in the open air to relaxed geometric classes without a textbook and tables...". The author sends young readers for examples to the works of L.N. Tolstoy and A.P. Chekhova, Jules Verne and Mark Twain and offers a colorful selection of curious tasks in the plot.
