Yakov Isidorovich Perelman (1882–1942)-Russian and Soviet physicist and mathematician, the creator of a special genre in popular science literature-“Entertaining Science”. “Entertaining science,” wrote J. I. Perelman, “strives for the usual thing, long -known phenomena, which have lost interest in our eyes, showing a new, unusual, sometimes unexpected side. The novelty incites interest, and interest helps to concentrate attention and wakes up the work of thought. ” In the rich literary heritage of Y. I. Perelman, it is customary to distinguish ten basic books that formed the basis of “Entertaining Science”.
In this publication, five of them are included, where we are talking about physical laws and phenomena, the principles of mechanics, about space space and interplanetary travels. An inquisitive reader will get acquainted with many entertaining experiments, curious stories, cunning puzzles, funny tasks and paradoxes, and also learn about the projects of the first dreamers from science, thanks to which travels beyond the Earth became possible.
