The textbook discusses the main provisions of general epidemiology, its modern features and directions of the prevention of relevant infectious and parasitic, nosocomial and mass non -infectious diseases of a person are presented. Information on epidemiology and the prevention of diseases is set out with an emphasis on pathology, most relevant for healthcare of Russia due to their high prevalence and socio-economic significance.

The textbook is illustrated by schemes, graphs and tables and consists of two sections: General epidemiology and Special part. After each thematic section, tasks for self -control are given. The first section gives a characteristic of the basic epidemiological concepts, the content of the epidemiological method of research is revealed, the doctrine of the epidemic process is described, the epidemiological significance of various sources of the pathogen of infection is highlighted. Examples of organization and conduct of preventive and anti -epidemic measures are given, the organization of immunoprophylaxis and disinfection is described. A special section of the textbook contains a characteristic of the epidemiological features of the most significant infectious and non -infectious diseases, infections associated with the provision of medical care, and the principles of protecting the territory of the country from the delivery of infectious diseases.

The textbook has been prepared in accordance with federal state educational standards of higher education The level of specialty in the areas of training 31.05.01 “Medicine” and 31.05.02 “Pediatrics”.
