Epistles of the husbands of the Apostolic: Collection
The works included in the book occupy a special place among patristic creations. These are unique evidence of the life of the first Christians, the hierarchical structure of the ancient Church, about its struggle against heresies, its survival in conditions of cruel persecution. These documents are truly invaluable, they maintain direct succession, a living relationship with the apostolic tradition. Some works were written by the direct students of the Holy Apostles, others were attributed to them. The authority of these messages in antiquity was at first so great that in the early manuscripts they were placed after New Testament books. Thus, the messages of the husbands of the apostolic are, as it were, a bridge between the New Testament and subsequent patristic creations.
Epistles are given in classical translations and comments from Archpriest Peter Alekseevich Preobrazhensky (1828-1893), a Russian spiritual writer and a cartridge. < /p>
