Eugene Onegin was written nearly two centuries ago. But during this time he was not outdated and did not grow old at all.

“Encyclopedia of Russian Life” was named the novel by Pushkin Vissarion Belinsky. The critic was absolutely right. This text remarkably contains the details of the private existence of people of the past time.

Moreover, the book has not yet lost its literary charm. Today's reader can and should read “Evgeny Onegin” as “Roman of Education.”

Pushkin managed to create characters who became archetypes of the behavior of many, many who came into the world much later. Onegin, Tatyana, Lensky, Olga - became household names. And their stories are the basics of numerous opera libretto, plays and film scores.
