The basis of this book, for which the preceding collection “Sophocles and its tragic creativity” was compiled by articles, comments and other materials prepared for the “Theater of Euripides” in the translation of I.F. Annensky with the commentary of F. F. Zelinsky, TT. 1-3 (1916-1921), as well as his articles of previous years related to the work of Euripides. To expand the idea of the myth underlying a particular tragedy, transfers and excerpts from the author’s fiction works were also involved.
The book is addressed to a wide reader interested in antiquity.
