Ivan Andreevich Krylov (1769 - 1844) - Russian writer, publicist, fabulist, academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1841). He wrote more than 200 fables, characterized by satirical severity, a bright figurative tongue. In the fables of Krylov, social and human vices were denounced: rudeness, greed, ingratitude, cunning. Gogol called Krylov’s fables “The Book of the Wisdom of the People himself”.
