Ivan Andreevich Krylov, Russian poet, translator, publisher, minister of the Imperial Public Library, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, author of OD and tragedies, most famous as a fabulist. His artistic talent was truly ingenious, the fables of Krylov became the top of world fable poetry. Based on the experience of Aesop and Lafontaine, he honed the poetic shape of the fable, giving it perfection of shape and content. Belinsky spoke of the naturalness, simplicity and lightness of Krylov’s language, adding that Pushkin himself is not full without this “original, native wealth”. The famous critic also claimed that “Krylov is not for some children: an adult will involuntarily forget his fables with a book and again recounted by him a thousand times...”
