The book includes forty-two tales of G. H. Andersen translated by Anna and Peter Hansen. Among them, such a long history of history as a fire, a persistent tin soldier, the Snow Queen, Ole-Lukoy, as well as other, less well-known works. The tale of the alphabet is given in the translation of R. Grishchenkov.

The collection begins with the biographical essay of the writer, compiled according to his memories. Perfectly executed illustrations by Hans Tegner help young and adult readers to fully feel the charm of Andersen's fairy tales.
