Alexander Vasiliev (b. 1958) - fashion historian, TV presenter, theater artist, president of the Foundation Alexander Vasiliev, Honorary Member of the Academy of Arts of Russia, cavalier of the Order of Arts and Literature of France and the Order of the Cross of Latvia. The supervisor of the program “Theory and Fashion Industry” at Moscow State University, the author of numerous books on the history of fashion that have become bestsellers: “Beauty in Exile”, “Russian Fashion. 150 years in photographs ”,“ Russian Hollywood ”and others. The Vasilyev family tree is unusually branched. In the family of Alexander Vasiliev were French and English aristocrats, statesmen of the era of Catherine the Great, actors, opera singers, theater directors and artists. He himself became a world -famous fashion historian and the owner of a unique collection of historical costume. However, by his own admission, the most important family value for him is the memories that are included in this book. The first part of the book is the memoirs of Pyotr Pavlovich Vasiliev, theater director and uncle Alexander Vasiliev, about the life of the family in pre -revolutionary samara and wanderings in Siberia, who ended in Moscow.
