Farewell to Matera. Rasputin V.
“Farewell to Matera” (1976) is one of the best works by Valentin Rasputin. This is a nicer story about the flooding of the island and the village with the same name for the sake of the grandiose construction of the Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station, when the “Angars is a waybill” was submitted and the artificial sea was created. Among the others, Matur should also go to the bottom of this sea. Leave along with birches and pines, a “swamp with a frog”, along with a village and a cemetery. Without the islands who have been living for centuries, the old people who are difficult to come to terms with the destruction of their native graves, the huts in which they were born, are all the usual way of life, firmly connected with Matera. “The whole fabric of the story is a wide stream of popular poetic perception...” wrote A. Solzhenitsyn. - How many feelings are about the native land, its eternity. The completeness of nature is a living dialogue, sound, speech, accurate words. ”
In this publication, other novels by V. Rasputin were included: “Money for Mary” (1967), “Term Tolse” (1970), “Fire” (1985).
