In this book, the author’s own material and literary material related to physiological, psychological, psychophysiological and psychopathological aspects of the emotional life of a person are synthesized; The shades of human feelings and options for mental reactions to emotional factors are described, the development of the doctrine of emotions and drives of a person is traced. The book contains a number of provisions expressed for the first time, in particular, the development of E. Blailer's ideas about the effectiveness - feelings, drives and emotions in the psychophysiological aspect based on their genetic connection and general functions in the body but to satisfy its needs, as well as the provision on a single psychophysiological dominant in the attraction (motivations). This publication was restored: the chapter “Sensitivity of internal organs”, excluded during the first publication of the book, the section “The role of the sympathetic nervous system for pain” and sections dedicated to the influence of this system and adrenaline on the organs and functions of the body. In the full author’s version, sections are also presented: “Class Psychology”, “On emotions generated by the social environment” and “Objections against the theory of James-Long”. The monograph is written in an accessible language, is not overloaded with special terminology and, in addition to considering scientific issues, is called, according to the author, to protect a person from many mistakes associated with ignorance of the laws of his mental life.
