V.I. Johelson (1855–1937) is a recognized classic of Russian and world northeast, a participant in the three largest expeditions of the late XIX - early XX centuries. -Sibiryakovskaya (Yakutskaya), Jezupovsky (North Tikhookean) and Ryabushinsky (Kamchatka-Aleutskaya). Since 1922, he lived in the USA and in France. His archival heritage is on different continents. For the first time, two field diaries of Johelson of the period of his work in the Siberian expedition (1894–1896), organized by the East Siberian department of Irgo, are published. They contain ethnographic and folklore materials about Yukagirs, Lamuts, Tungus, Yakuts, Russians of the Yakut region. The publication is equipped with comments, articles, signs, as well as photographs of Johelson from Russian and American museums.
