First man. Camus A.
January 4, 1960, Alber Camus died in a car accident. Among the wreckage of the car, his road bag was found and in it was the draft version of the novel “First Man”. Thirty -four years after the death of the author, a book prepared by the daughter of the writer Catherine Camus saw the light.
Roman, in fact an autobiographical one, is dedicated to the Mother of Camus: “You, who can never read this book,” she really could not read it because she was illiterate.
The hero of the novel, Jacques Kormeri, trying to resurrect the memories of the father who died during the First World War, comes to Algeria, where his childhood passed in poverty, which he was able to survive thanks to love with a silent and illiterate mother and teacher who changed his view of the world. This story gives us an idea of how the personality of Camus and his views were formed, and the key to the understanding of those that underlie his work.
