Chekhov’s works in 5 volumes, prepared by the ABC publishing house in the Jubilee Chekhov year, is a unique project that has no analogues in the book market.

This collection is built not according to a chronological, but by a thematic principle. His concept was proposed by a famous literary critic, a specialist in the work of A.P. Chekhov, professor of St. Petersburg State University Igor Nikolayevich Sukhikh. Chekhov repeatedly pondered the idea of ​​a big novel and even got to work on him. This novel even had the name - “Stories from the life of my friends”, it was assumed that it would consist of separate stories, closely connected by the commonality and characters. This idea was not destined to be realized, and nevertheless, one can try to add up, reconstruct the chapters and parts of an imaginary Chekhov novel, which was undertaken in this publication.
