The flowers are small, lilac coloring, collected in loose cystic inflorescences, have a strong natural aroma, especially in the evening and night hours. Blooms abundantly since the end of June for a month. To extend flowering, you can carry out repeated crops with an interval of two weeks throughout the summer. It is used for planting along the paths, near terraces, arbors, as well as in mixborders and Moorish lawns.
The location is undemanding, but prefers sunny areas. Any garden soils are suitable for her, but she reaches the best development on fertile loams with a neutral reaction and does not tolerate fresh manure at all. Mattiol is also sensitive to stagnation of water in the ground and prolonged drought. Grow direct sowing into the ground in early May. The shoots appear after 10-12 days, they are thinned out, leaving 15 cm between plants. The night violet blooms two months after sowing. Mattiola seeds of two -rods can also be sown in the winter (in November), especially on sandy soils. Crops are carried out from mid -March to the end of May, every 10-15 days - this will make it possible to enjoy the marvelous aroma of the flowers of the night violet from June to autumn.
