“Flowerers” (It. Fioretti) - the genre of medieval literature, a collection of stories about the miracles and deeds of the saints. “The flowers of St. Francis of the Assisian” date back to the first half of the XIV century. Their author is traditionally considered Brother Zagolino from the Montejorgio monastery. Francis of Assisi himself is the Catholic saint, the founder of the Order of the Franciscans, the ideal of an ascetic lifestyle. He performed many miracles: healed the blind, resurrected the dead, treated paralysis, leprosy and many terrible medieval diseases. Canonized in 1226.
