A decorative biennial, forming compact bushes up to 15 cm high with large (up to 6 cm with diameter) with numerous red flowers having a characteristic dark spot in the center. It is often used as an accent plant in creating floral arrangements, widely used for growing in various kinds of flower beds, borders, slavecars, stony slides, in flowerpots, and is also grown as a potted crop. An unpretentious, winter -hardy plant prefers open sunny areas, but can grow in partial shade. It develops well on soils consisting of peat, humus and sod land with the addition of sand.
