The book aims to reveal the main driving forces and show the mechanism that gave rise to the most acute international and military conflict of Russia and the West for the post-Soviet period. Based on political economy and world-system analysis, the author seeks to show how the forces prevailing in the modern world have formed the hierarchical structure of the world economy. A modern system of international relations is based on it as its basis, including states and conflicts between them. Then the social system of the post -Soviet countries is determined.

Based on the proposed interpretation of the ratio of forces and interests of the ruling classes of the West, Ukraine and Russia, the phenomenon of their rivalry in the world arena is explained. This allows us to identify the logical nature of the exacerbation of the struggle between the West and Russia, as well as the attempts of the United States and Europe to use its control over Ukraine as a means of undermining the international positions of our country. Next, the purely dependent capitalism is analyzed on the example of Ukraine. The phenomenon of the Maidan as an imitation of the revolution is interpreted as the main reason for the national liberation uprising of the southeast. The contradictory policy of Russia in this crisis is explained on the basis of its semi-peripheral position in the world system. In conclusion, some conclusions are proposed about the prospects of this conflict and further ways of Russian development under the current conditions.
