Ivan Dmitrievich Putilin (1830–1893)-the legend of the domestic detect, the head of the detective police of St. Petersburg, who had fought criminals in the city on the Neva for almost forty years. During this time, he revealed hundreds of things, many of which became widely known, and he considered his best investigations those that he managed to reveal “exclusively by logical conclusion.”
