In 2021, the 160th anniversary of the birth of Fridtjof Nansen and the 100 years of his humanitarian mission turned 160 - as the Supreme Commissioner of the League of Nations, he organized international assistance to the starving Soviet Russia. The book of the Paulsen publishing house is devoted to the activities of the famous Norwegian in the Volga region and other areas of the country. The main region of the work of the Nansen mission is the Saratov province, the most affected by the famine of the 1920s. Thanks to the efforts of Nansen and foreign charitable organizations, thousands of lives were saved. The scientist not only supplied humanitarian assistance, but also fought with one of the reasons for hunger - low agricultural performance. Its unique opening project in Soviet Russia has no analogues.
The book for the first time in domestic literature tells in detail about all aspects of humanitarian assistance that Nansen provided.
