From a notebook in wine spots. Bukovsky Ch.
A notebook in wine spots is an excellent image that exactly conveys Bukovsky’s attitude to officialdom. It was on such unsightly pages that the Bontary poet, who all his life created a reputation as a “lost man”, “old goat”, factotum, could record his thoughts about life, people, literature. He deliberately reduces the pathos: “An incoherent essay on poetics and damn life, written for the drinking of six”, “The old drunkard, which is no longer lucky”, “The old goat confesses” - these are the names of some essays included in this book. “I threw myself towards my personal deity - simplicity,” he admitted. Anyone who reads this book will see that this simplicity is deceiving. And black humor, cynicism, rudeness is a mask, behind which is hidden an easily elevated, vulnerable, suffering person.
