The reader is proposed to the famous and classical neurobiology book “From Neuron to Brain”, the authors of which-wide-known neurobiologists-in a clear and intelligible form describe the existing facts, methodological approaches and concepts, focusing on experimental data, as classic and the most modern.

The authors explain the behavior and complex functions of the brain in terms of the activity of nerve cells (neurons); consider cellular and molecular mechanisms of interneuron interaction; They study the methods of formation of structures and connections that underlie the functions of the developing organism. The first English edition of the book was published in 1975; It was translated into Russian and became a desktop reference book on the main issues of brain physiology for several generations of researchers. The fourth English edition from which a real translation has been made is updated by more than three quarters and is, in fact, a completely new book, since the rapid growth of the science of the brain led to amazing discoveries in recent decades. But the purpose of the book remained the same as the authors in the preface to the first edition: ". Write the methods for transmitting signals with nerve cells, as signals are analyzed and as the highest functions of the brain arise on the basis of this integration." According to the authors, the book is intended for the reader without special education, which is interested in the principles of the nervous system. This publication is included as recommended literature in almost all the courses regarding the work of the brain for students of medical and biological universities in Russia.
