The book is a collection of works by the author of different years, including previously not published, devoted to the search for a man of the West of a metaphysical support for reliable orientation in earthly wanderings, unpredictable, like life itself. The author begins the story of the Odyssey of the Western Spirit from the era of the Scientific and Philosophical Revolution of the 17th century with its Cartesian rationality symbolized by the “pyramids”. The philosophy of life arising from the crisis of rationalism, trying to turn the Western consciousness from the “pyramidal” mind to the “tropical forest” of life, are considered in the second section of the book. Finally, in the third section on the 20th century, a clash of attempts to update Cartesian rationalism with existential-personality thought is investigated. The book generally refers to how Western thought is trying to overcome the limitations of its rationalism. Heroic rationalists, romantics, philosophers of life, existentialists, writers -thoughts of an essay and diary genre - these are those who form the main contingent of the personalities of this book.
