The name of the American writer Theodore Drayzer is familiar to readers around the world primarily thanks to his famous novels, including “Sister Kerry” and “Jenny Gerhard”, “Genius” and “American Tragedy”, “Desire Trilogy” and Oplot. Meanwhile, the Dreiser was also a very prolific novelist. His creative heritage includes dozens of brilliant stories and essays. In many respects, autobiographical and sometimes anticipating topics and conflicts of his novels, they clearly confirm the author’s Maxim: “The writer’s business is not to judge, but to understand life and talk about it.” The Gallery of Women (1929) is fifteen completely different heroines, each with its fate and a drama life. Fifteen exciting stories written by the hand of a deep expert on human nature, a bright, truthful artist and a fascinating narrator. In the present edition of the Gallery of Women is presented in the form as it was conceived by the author himself, and most of the stories are published in Russian for the first time.
