Gap-grass. Do not cross the field. Kalashnikov I.K.
Isai Kalashnikov, a native of the Buryat village, after the church reform of the 18th century inhabited by the Old Believers - family, became known throughout the country after the publication of the epic novel “Cruel Age” (1978), which tells about the life of Genghis Khan. In his other novel, “Gap-grass” (1970), the writer also turns to history, but to the story of a closer and more personal one.
In the center of the story, the life of the Old Believer family village in the first half of the 20th century - forty years, equal to the number of upheavals that have fallen to the share of contemporaries, an entire era. The same topic was raised in the last novel by Isaa Kalashnikov, first published after his death in 1999, and again the writer masterfully captivates the reader in the vicissitudes of the life of his heroes, proving that in history there are no large and small ones, that the measure of all - the measure of all - Man and his place in the world.
