Gap-grass. Kalashnikov I.K.
Decades after the first publications, the historical novels of the Soviet writer Isa Kalistratovich Kalashnikov (1931–1980), as before, deservedly use reader love. A native of the Buryat village, after the church reform of the XVIII century, populated by the Old Believers - family, Isai Kalashnikov became known throughout the country as the author of the epic novel “Cruel Age” (1978), which tells about the life of Genghis Khan. In his other novel, “Gap-grass” (1970), the writer also turns to history, but to the story of a closer and more personal one. In the center of the story is the life of the Old Believer family village in the first half of the 20th century. The plot of the novel covers forty years that can be called an entire era: so many shocks have fallen for this time. Again, Isai Kalashnikov masterfully fascinates the reader in the vicissitudes of the life of his heroes, proving that in history there are no large and small ones that the measure of everything is a person and his place in the world.
