The proposed manual outlines general issues of epidemiology, quite conditionally divided into two parts. The main views on the history, formation and development of epidemiology, the epidemic process, supervision and prevention of infectious and mass non -infectious human diseases are presented. Much attention is paid to the formation of new sections of epidemiology, as well as the formation of uniform approaches in understanding the risks of this science. All considered issues are presented from the standpoint of modern scientific views and relevance for healthcare of Russia.
