Gevork Andreevich Vartanyan (1924-2012) - the first employee of our illegal intelligence, awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union during work abroad in peacetime. Together with his wife, Goor Levonovna, he worked for 45 years in “special conditions” - far from his homeland, turning, according to the operational legend, into a successful and very wealthy merchant. The scout had to be and work in about a hundred countries of the world - and in a number of them, his “contacts” were the highest leaders of the states, special services and the armed forces. Until recently, our knowledge about the work of Gevorc Vartanyan was limited to ensuring the safety of the "Big Three" during the Tehran Conference of 1943. The author of the book managed to significantly expand the temporary and geographical framework of the biography of the legendary intelligence officer. In this he was helped by students, colleagues and chiefs of Gevork Andreyevich, as well as - Goar Levonovna Vartanyan.
