Ghost Alexander Wolf. Gazdanov G.
Gaito Gazdanov (1903–1971) shared the fate of many Russian emigrant writers-in his homeland his work became known only at the end of the 20th century, becoming a discovery for the Russian reader. The combining deep lyricism and subtle irony, the transparent intellectual prose of Gazdanov, was the result of an unusual merger of Russian and Western European traditions, filled with a new disturbing content - “Arzamas horror” of exile and the experience of its spiritual overcoming. “The Ghost of Alexander Wolf” is a novel that metaphorically reflected the vicinity of the fate of the whole generation of emigrants of the first wave. The nameless hero seeks to find his place in a foreign land, but the past, like a spy, continues to pursue him, invisibly determining the course of further events. In the action -packed, almost detective narrative, carniviously weaving the fate of the characters, the themes of rock, tragic predetermination and at the same time - irremovable freedom, the opportunity to find oneself on the border between slavery and will, death and a miracle.
