Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka (1804-1857) - one of the key figures in music and a genuine hero of Russian culture. Incredible, still lifetime, the glory of the composer contributed to the emergence of numerous myths and speculation around him. The presented biography recreates the real, sometimes contradictory personality of Glinka. For the first time it was shown how his worldview and work was affected by belonging to the Russian nobility and the European Higher Light. The composer’s life is considered in a wide historical context, supplemented by stories about travel, medicine, fashion, family law, publishing process, home music, etc. Glinka’s life is associated with the reign of three emperors - Alexander I, Alexander II - and the national -patriotic component their policies, in particular with the ideology of the “official nation” within the framework of the Russian Empire.
