The book is dedicated to the most popular of precious metals - gold. Since ancient times, this metal has occupied a special place in the life of world civilizations. For some, gold was the subject of cult and worship, for others - evidence of power and wealth. A special position of gold is maintained today - it was this metal that has become the most reliable tool for maintaining capital. The book "Anatomy of Gold" is focused on a wide audience and sets itself the task of revealing all the most important aspects of gold extraction from history to modernity. The authors of the publication collected cognitive information about how gold was perceived in the culture of the largest world civilizations, how the attitude towards gold was transformed during history. About how metal production technologies changed and how modern gold mining enterprises work. Special attention in the book is paid to the "Golden Heart of Russia" - the Magadan region. This region, which has colossal stocks of precious metal, has given the country more than three thousand tons of gold since the beginning of industrial development of deposits. Surprisingly, gold was discovered here almost by accident, thanks to the starting enthusiasts, firmly confident in their instinct, and later-selfless geologists who became the discoverers of the largest deposits of the region. The publication contains unique archival photographs found in the reserves of the Magadan Regional Museum of Local Lore. Some of them are published for the first time. Kolyma still retains leadership positions, obtaining about 37 tons of gold annually. So far, this is the second place in the All -Russian rating, but in the coming years, thanks to the modernization of existing and the input of new enterprises, the region can again take the first line. For the extraction of silver, a faithful golden satellite, the Magadan region has long demonstrated record results, obtaining about 780 tons annually. The extraction of precious metals today has little in common in comparison with the technology of the past. Mining is a complex, high -tech production, which has a large number of highly qualified specialists who receive very solid wages. Who are they and what do they do?
