Golden calf. Ilf I.A.
The frantic success that Ilya Ilya Ilf and Evgeny Petrov after the publication of “Twelve Chairs” (1928) prompted the co -authors of “resurrect” his hero, the unnecessary and charming swindler of Ostap Bender, and take up the creation of the Roman “The Golden Calf” (1931 ). The dilogy, which included in the Golden Fund of Russian literature of the twentieth century and withstood hundreds of reprints, is extremely rarely published, accompanied by magnificent illustrations created by Kukryniks. This edition gives readers the opportunity to get acquainted with this work of Mikhail Kupriyanov, Porfiry Krylov and Nikolai Sokolov, better known for the sonorous collective pseudonym. Outstanding cartoon artists, classics of book illustrations managed not only to convey the atmosphere of the 1920s: their creative manner turned out to be an incredibly consonant, sparkling satire of Ilf and Petrov.
