Nikolai Pavlovich Zadornov (1909-1992) - a famous Russian writer, Honored Worker of Culture of the Latvian SSR (1969). His pen belongs to two large cycles of works on the development of Siberia and the Far East by Russian pioneers in the 19th century. “Golden Figure” is the continuation of the well -known novel “Amur -Batyushka”. In recent decades of the XIX century, rich gold placers have been discovered at numerous cupid trims. Directed by need and hardships, immigrants of whole villages went to the taiga to wash noble metal. Here and here, in the depths of the Amur forests, the "fraternal republics" of prospectors arose with their laws and rulers. Some of them even entered into an open struggle with the tsarist authorities. The life of one of these "republics" is described in the novel.
