In the book of the German scientist G. E. Timerding, professor of the Higher Technical School in Braunschweig, the golden section is considered - both from the point of view of mathematics and from the point of view of aesthetics. In the first part of the book, those considerations from the field of elementary mathematics that belong to the golden section are set out in a coherent and finished form. In the second part, the value that has a golden section in aesthetics is subjected to a critical study. The first edition in Russian was published in 1924, but the questions raised in the book will not leave indifferent and modern readers.
