Japanese engraving Ukiyo-E is one of the most recognizable types of traditional arts of this country. This book contains biographies and engravings of the most famous artists of Ukiyo-e.
engravings presented in the book, cover the period since the 1660s, when the genre only was born, up to the day of the sunset of the glory of Ukiyo-e at the end of the 19th century. Thanks to this book, the reader can get a fairly detailed idea not only about the artists themselves, but also about the evolution of the genre as a whole. The book can be considered an encyclopedia for Japanese artists of the XVII-XIX century. In Russia, similar encyclopedia books were not published.
