“Great retreat” and stabilization of the Eastern Front. 1915. Oleinikov A.V.
The second half of 1915 was the hardest time for Russia for the entire period of the First World War. The passivity of the allied in the Entente allowed the Austro-German command to concentrate their main forces on the Eastern (Russian) front, which, together with insufficient combat support, put the Russian troops in an extremely difficult situation. With battles, they had to leave the territory of Poland and part of the Baltic states. But the Russian command managed to avoid a strategic environment and stabilize the front line. In bloody defensive battles, the enemy suffered huge losses, but did not manage to withdraw Russia from the war.
about this and primarily about the courage of Russian soldiers and officers is described in the book of the Doctor of Historical Sciences A.V. Oleinikova.
