The volume contains the introductory part and the part dedicated to individual groups of microorganisms, as well as the section on the role of the normal flora of a person.

Pathogenesis and the main clinical manifestations of infections caused by individual pathogens, as well as methods of their etiotropic treatment, are briefly given. The information about the sources and transmission routes caused by each individual pathogen is compressed. When describing the methods of etiological diagnosis and determination of sensitivity, the authors, first of all, were based on the instructive-methodical documents regulated by the Russian healthcare authorities or WHO. In some cases, the personal experience of the authors and the methods used by leading foreign countries (USA, Great Britain, etc.) are given.

The book is intended for microbiologists, scientists, university teachers and students of the system of follow-up professional education of doctors in as a training manual.
