Heavenly paths. Shmelev I.S.
The work of the famous Russian emigrant writer I. S. Shmelev “Heavenly Ways” is, according to the author himself, the “experience of a spiritual novel”, on which he worked for more than fifteen years. Unfortunately, the novel remained incomplete. The first volume was written in May 1936, the second-was created in 1944-1947. The death of the writer in 1950 prevented him from finishing the last part of this trilogy. The story is based on the true history of two people who lived at the end of the XIX century. Next to Optina Desert is the engineer of Viktor Alekseevich Vaidengammer and meek, deeply believing the girl Daria Koroleva. This is a novel about love, moral choice and spiritual revival. Ivan Shmelev has long gained the glory of the writer, expressing in his work an Orthodox view of the world. But this is a book for those who have not yet been weaned from the charm of good Russian prose.
