In the collection, the author contrasts two heroes. Victor Pakhomov, the hero of the play “Heir”, is the product of the consumer society. He is ready for the sake of glory and wealth to sell the soul to the devil. And the buyer is in the person of an elderly lady. He becomes the heir to her condition, but loses his essence and dies. The hero of the play “Kolka Chikin”, a simple rural guy, fights for his love, despite the fact that he suffers failures. He becomes spiritually richer and comes to a philosophical understanding of life. As a result, he achieves respect for the villagers and lost love returns to him.
