< P> Member of the defense of Moscow in 1941, he was captured - and went through the camps, including in Salaspils, Kaunas and Panevezis, fled twice and eventually led the “self -official” partisan detachment from former prisoners of war in Lithuania. The story “We, Lord!..” - is autobiographical, written in 1943, in 30 days, in the attic in the Lithuanian city of Shaulya, when the group of partisans led by Vorobyov was forced to leave underground. In 1946, the manuscript was proposed by the New World magazine, but the terrible truth about the war did not fit into the approved "heroic" discourse of military prose, and the author was refused; The story saw the Light only in 1986, after the death of the writer.
